Just so you know, I will be publishing a little bit of a serial throughout the game. The first entry is in the forum. It is the story of a young jazz musician named Julius who travels through Europe in the first decade of the 20th Century. Your Europe.

Read along with me, and feel free to comment.

Map Test

This is how maps are going to be displayed. It shows a thumbnail scaled down to fit in the blog, and if you click on the image, it will display the full sized image.

Adjudication - Facts and Figures

So, I am trying to GM this game via blog. I have high hopes for this format, in terms of keeping the game organized and portable. My goal is to make this adjudication completely portable - ie. I can make adjustments at any time. A lot of the things I am going to do could be done via the Redscape forums, but in my opinion, it is easier to remember a simple url than it is to navigate though endless forum directories.

Still, I do not want to take away from the community of Redscape, so I still will insist that public announcements, news items and such be communicated at the forum. Please use the commenting system here at the blog for disputes or clarifications regarding rules or results.

But back to my point - portability. Blogger.com works via web interface, and since adding the feature of uploading images for display I can do it anywhere. The second problem was adjudication and map production. I have a 128mb flash drive, and have installed Realpolitik on it. It takes up a mere 5 mb of space, and requires no common files or special dlls, so it is completely operable and self-contained on the drive (along with Mozilla Firefox - blatant plug! Ever want to use firefox but your company won't let you install it? Get a flash drive and install Portable Firefox!). However, even in its 2005 "1.7 alpha" release, the program STILL doesn't save in anything but BMP format so I need to save the picture then open it in MS Paint andsave it again. Windows XP is on both my home and my work PCs, which includes MS Paint, which includes the ability to save in JPG or GIF image file types.

The end result is that I should be able to do all GM functions without breaking my company's "Acceptable Use" policies! No installing of any new apps to the system, no storing of any files on the system, and I won't even be creating a clutter of IE cookies and web history in their IE! It'll all be on my flash drive or on the net.

Welcome, Dippers!

We haven't got a player roster yet, but in the meantime I want to mention a couple of important reference points.

  1. All game-related emails MUST go to baronollie AT gmail DOT com. Do NOT send them to any other address. You will be given one grace email, after that I will simply ignore them.
  2. All results will be posted here. All maps will be posted here. I will only post a notification on Redscape's forum that the results are up here.
  3. Please refer to the Redscape House Rules for any disputes. If I say something that contradicts the RHR, tell me I am wrong, and I will fix it.
  4. I'll add more to this as I think of them.
